PAX and Present

Conventions, hallmarks of fan-based culture since their inception more than two decades ago, have long-served as a place where fans of anything considered “geeky, nerdy and weeby” can get together and showcase their creative skills, their passions for a genre and excitement for the future of our culture. There are a place not just to totally lose our minds together over our favorite animes, games and nerd culture, but as an inviting place to connect with friends and meet new ones. Conventions are not just a hub for the industry, but of the community as a meeting place where far-flung internet friends can come together and bask in a collective aura of shared passion. Truly there's a magic to conventions.

But as with many things this year, Covid has taken many of the greats from us. Most noticeably in the industry, the loss of E3 which was entirely cancelled for 2020 along with the withdrawal of giants in the industry such as Sony, Capcom and Square Enix from PAX East. This weekend we would have been with you at PAX West, among the many throngs of excited and eager fans, sharing in the thrill of experiencing the next big game, meeting developers, and just goofing around with friends. But this year we will have to settle with experiencing PAX from afar, online, watching from screens as we cheer on those who continue to produce things for those who love them. PAX Online promises a new and intriguing take on making the best out of an unfortunate situation as they move online in September. While, yes, this is a sad time. A hard time, undoubtedly, for cosplayers, independent artists and businesses, industry professionals and more. But instead of mourning the loss of the pulsating excitement of a convention atmosphere, and seeing all your smiling faces, we wanted to look back on our past and share with you the things we loved most about conventions, especially PAX West.

PAX West, previously known as PAX Prime until 2015, found its footholds as a forerunner in the industry in 2004 where it rapidly tripled in size three years in a row until breaching its massive numbers seen today. Founded right here in our home state of Washington, the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) wasted no time in expanding beyond LAN-based tournaments and other smaller events, and the gaming world didn’t take long to notice.  Sanshee found its way among those hallowed walls for the first time in 2011, one year after the company's conception. The West Coast is known for its powerhouse centers in the gaming industry, including Blizzard Entertainment, Valve and Bungie, and some of our license partners such as Electronic Arts, ATLUS West, Square Enix, Inc. and more.

“I remember the first PAX I ever attended, PAX EAST 2010. I know the slogan for PAX is ‘Welcome Home’ and as sappy as that is, it’s entirely true. I never thought I could feel so at home in a crowd that big, but I did. Every fan I talked to felt like a friend I’d known for years, sharing in the joy and excitement of being in a place designed just for us and the things that we loved. I miss it dearly, and I look forward to going back just as soon as we can…” - Hovsep, Digital Marketer

"My favorite aspect of conventions is the energy that I feel from all the attendees. Conventions are events that so many people look forward to throughout the year: the chance for them to see distant friends (and make new ones), to dress the way they want, and be themselves without the judgment of others. Conventions are a  celebration of like-minded people gathering together and having a great time.

While it's been a while since I've actually walked around and participated as an attendee, I have just as much fun at my artist alley table. I meet dozens of wonderful, excited fans and have great conversations about what we've been watching or playing, what we love, and sometimes we even have some deep conversations about life in general.

When I'm at a convention, a part of me feels very much at home. Knowing that I'm surrounded by like-minded individuals, all gathered together in one place to enjoy the same things - it almost feels like I'm at a family reunion, hanging out with my people.

It's been a tough year for everyone, and I for one am very much looking forward to when conventions will return and be safe to attend, so we can all have fun together again." - Jeannie, Lead Artist
"Exhibiting at PAX is like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, and 7 birthdays all tied together with snakes. The entire 5 block radius around the convention just bristles with excitement and good will; it's intoxicating. Everyone's just so friendly and enthusiastic and it's a delight talking with the people who visit our booth. PAX is as much about reuniting with cherished friends, hanging out, and making new ones, as it is about video games. I miss it and everyone dearly." - Arty, Founder

Happy Pride Month! Celebrate with us with pins and parades!

Here at Sanshee we’re excited about June for a few reasons. One, of course, is that the weather is slowly clearing up - there’s sun during the day, longer hours, and the ice cream shop is open down the way for mid-day ice cream. Second, and more importantly, is that June is Pride Month across the country. While not officially recognized everywhere, it’s a part of the lives of much of Sanshee’s staff and this year, we wanted to do something a little more than just celebrate on our own.

In 2017, we’ve shifted our focus to try and reach out to local communities and support them where we can. We’ve done sales and charity events to benefit AbleGamers, ACLU, Seattle Animal Shelter and more. This month, we wanted to focus on something else that’s important to us and what better time to do so than Pride?

Up for preorder today is a pin designed by Chad Gowey, with a portion of every sale going to Gay City: Seattle's LGBTQ center!

It is a pre-order item with a minimum goal of 200 units; if we are unable to reach this goal, the pins will not go into production and all pre-orders will be refunded, so we hope you'll take the opportunity to pre-order and tell your friends!

Another way we want to try and be more involved with the community is the Seattle Pride Parade. In the past, members of Sanshee staff have attended Pride on their own, but this year one of the things that we felt important was going a step further. We’re proud to announce that Sanshee is participating in Seattle’s Parade on Sunday, June 25th at 11AM. We’ll be marching in the parade for the entirety of the day and then out and about in downtown Seattle for all the fun that Pride has to offer.

If you’ve ever been to any of our events - Friendsgiving, Christmas, or movie/TV watch days, or simply would like to come march in the parade with us, we welcome you. There are only ten spots in the parade available and it will likely require some time commitment on your part, but if you’re interested in participating, please email and we will try to work with you on it.

We also recognize that some members of the community may not be able to physically march with us due to distance, or disabilities. Unfortunately, parades aren’t always the easiest thing to participate in and while there is no easy answer, Sanshee would like to include as many people as possible in whatever capacity we can. If you’re unable to participate in the parade but would still like to support in some way, please email for coordination.

We’d be happy to have folks who are local help decorate signs and tshirts and whatever else we might have. Additionally, we’d love to have a blog post after Pride listing all of the names of folks who might not have been able to participate in the marching but still supported us during it. If that is something you would be interested in, please email for coordinating that as well!

If you’re local to Seattle, please consider taking a look at all the cool Pride events happening throughout the month. Here’s a link to Seattle’s Pride calendar. We encourage you to check out any events that might be happening in your areas, too!

From all of us at Sanshee, we wish you a happy Pride!

Sanshee's Friendsgiving!

On Thanksgiving day, Sanshee will be opening its doors to anyone in the general fandom for a community Thanksgiving. We’ve held events at Sanshee before, from Kirkwall Con, Friday Fundays, to general fun events and parties. This year, we’d like to invite you to our Friendsgiving.  While we can’t provide any sort of transportation or accommodation for you, we are happy to provide a home cooked meal, good friends, great conversation and new friends.

One of the best things about working at Sanshee is the fact that, for all of us, Sanshee is like a family. We all come from very different backgrounds and walks of life, but we come together because of a shared love of video games, anime, merchandise and general nerdery.  Many of us spend our holidays traveling to go to conventions where we can meet other fans who are as passionate about the products and licenses that we work with as we are.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as we are to have that. The last few weeks have been a very trying time for many of us and we want to welcome everyone to come together as friends and fellow fans to make Thanksgiving a happier day for all of us.

This is open to anyone who is local to Seattle or has the ability to be here on Thanksgiving day.

Sanshee is located at the Prudential Building: 114 Alaskan Way S, Ste 100, Seattle WA 98104.

Parking may be difficult due to our downtown location. There are parking lots in the area and there is street parking; if possible, come early to have a better chance at something close. We are a few blocks from the Pioneer Square Station and the King Street Station, and even closer to the Seattle Ferry.

Friendsgiving will start at 12PM PST on the 24th, eating will begin around 3PM PST and go until approximately 8PM.  This is to ensure that A) people have a place to go at any point during the day and B) if they have other commitments, they can join at a different time. You are welcome to stay as long as this event continues.

Employees of Sanshee will be bringing a variety of foods. Depending on the number of RSVPs, there will be turkey, general Thanksgiving sides and dishes, and - of course - pie. If you are someone with dietary restrictions, please let us know in this Google doc. we will do our best to accommodate you.  Additionally, we will have a TV set up with movies and gaming.

This is an inclusive event. Sanshee will be providing nametags so you can write your preferred name on it, as well as preferred pronouns. We ask that everyone who attends this event is respectful of those who attend. We will need you to also fill out the Google doc with as many details as possible.

Yourself! You can bring others so long as it is written on the Google doc, so we know how many people to expect. We also ask that if you can bring a side of some kind; please feel free to and let us know in the doc what you may be bringing so we can plan accordingly. We understand if you’re unable to do so and will be providing food/drinks regardless of what is brought.

  1.    I don’t eat turkey, what can I do? If you specify what dietary requirements you have, we are happy to accommodate as best as we can. Turkey will be here, but we can also plan on other items for vegetarians, etc.
  2.    I don’t know anyone who will be attending! That’s fine! I (Sarah) will be there from before it starts until a little after it opens. We’ll have nametags and will likely set something up so you can find people who have the same interests as you, too. I will be going through and introducing people to each other if they would like, so no one feels uncomfortable.
  3.    I can only attend for a short amount of time! That’s fine! Some of us will be spending part of Thanksgiving with friends and family elsewhere and joining later. Please feel free to drop by whenever you can. The ideal time to be there is 3PM since we’ll begin serving food, but we also have people who live close by, so we can stagger things out a little depending on when people are due to arrive.
  4.    I have a question not addressed here! Please feel free to email with any questions that you may have regarding this. I’m happy to address anything that comes up.

In short, the holidays can be a stressful time for a lot of people. At Sanshee, we’d like to do what we can to make it as enjoyable and inclusive as possible. We look forward to meeting those of you in the community through the coming year and hope that you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.

We hope to see you there!

Two years working with FNAF! We're celebrating with one of our biggest sales yet!

With this month marking the anniversary of working officially with Scott Cawthon and Five Nights at Freddy’s, we wanted to take a moment to bust out the party decorations, order up some pizzas, and celebrate.

There is no simple way to describe the outpouring of support we’ve seen from the FNAF community over these past two years and what that means to us.It's hard to fully express what it means to be a part of this community, whether it’s the joy of hearing a fan’s excitement on seeing their first Foxy plush or the fun of dissecting fan theories with customers at the Sanshee booth. I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve been pulled aside on the street by someone who notices the Freddy shirt I was wearing or the pride I feel when watching a video of a customer meticulously unboxing our latest plush. From reading your comments online to opening up our mailbox and finding a hand-drawn piece of fan-mail, it’s incredible how much your words of support have had an impact on us and we can’t thank you enough. Since our beginnings we have always held to the goal of making things of quality and passion, and to see that appreciated as it has with the Five Nights at Freddy’s community means the world to us.

It has truly been a pleasure to share with you all the past two years of Five Nights at Freddy’s and we’re looking forward to many more.

Please enjoy the celebration and maybe a slice of pizza! Dig in and let’s eat!

Pre-Order Chica, Golden Freddy, Possessed Fredbear, & Foxy!

We’re happy to announce that we have the go-ahead to begin production on the next wave of FNAF plushes. This means Chica, Golden Freddy, and the Limited Edition Possessed Fredbear plushes will be available for pre-order alongside a restock of Foxy plushes starting February 22.

We will be trying something new with this wave in order to ensure more people have a chance at completing their set. We will hold a two week pre-order window prior to beginning production where all orders placed will be accounted for and built to match demand.

The reason we’re doing this guaranteed pre-order window is because we know that these guys can sell out fast. By opening up pre-orders, we’ll know exactly how many to make, so everyone who places a pre-order within the window will be guaranteed a plush and we can focus more on quality. This also means these orders also will not have an maximum order limit.*

The guaranteed pre-order window for these plushes will last for two weeks, from February 22nd to March 7th, 2016! After this date, they will become a regular limited-stock pre-order.

NOTE: Because possessed Fredbear is limited edition it is entirely likely that he may sell out during his pre-order phase. If you want one, please place your order during the guaranteed pre-order window.**

Please be familiar with our pre-order policies before you place your order, which you can read here! Remember that you will be charged in full at the time of placing your order, and that we highly recommend that you place each pre-order separately. We will only ship your order after all items in the order can be filled.

So, when are these going to be done? We aim to ship them out throughout the summer of 2016. They won’t all be finished at the same time, so some plushes will be shipped sooner than others. We’ll be updating the product pages with any changes to their release.

*We are still going to be on the lookout for suspicious activity, and orders that greatly exceed reasonable amounts will be scrutinized. Sanshee FNAF merchandise is not available for wholesale.

**We may keep a few around for giveaways, prizes, or conventions, but special edition plushes might not be available for regular online sale.
